Robert Kiyosaki Australia – Money and You Exposed

Robert Kiyosaki The Truth

Robert Kiyosaki is the world famous author of mega best seller, Rich Dad Poor Dad.  He is also a property investor and entrepreneur. Before he wrote the Rich Dad Poor Dad book, Robert was involved in a number of ventures which all seemed to fail

One venture that he doesn’t like to talk about is Money and You.  When you hear Robert he talks about how this (unnamed) business helped him retire early in the late eighties.  But the truth is rather different – Money and You went bust after the Australian equivalent of Sixty Minutes did an expose of Money and You. Money and You was an experiential learning weekend seminar that was designed to equip participants with the skills and ‘tools’ needed to become more successful.

Critics said that its real purpose was to strip participants emotionally bare, making them subject to auto suggestion and manipulation by the instructor.  One technique was to run a Saturday ‘game’ late into the night.  This had the effect of encouraging participants to make commitments that they would not ordinarily do – simply because they were too exhausted to do otherwise.

The TV documentary gave evidence of how some participants suffered extreme emotional trauma (one committed suicide) as a result of attending Money and You. Not long after the documentary aired, Money and You soon closed down in Australia which was Kiyosaki’s main money spinner at the time (he was virtually unknown in his native USA).

From there it appeared he spent time licking his wounds, before coming up with the idea to develop an experiential learning board game, which he called Cashflow 101.  He wanted to sell it for big bucks but wasn’t sure how to get the message out.

And that is how Rich Dad Poor Dad was born.  He wrote the book so he could sell the board game off the back end.  A stroke of genius.

Note: It should be noted that the Money and You program has been resurrected in a different form since its earlier demise.

Facebook Marketing – Making it Work Gangbusters

Are you ‘on’ Facebook?  How many times have I heard that question in the last 12 months?  Quite a few.  In 2009 it is obvious that a lot of people are ‘on’ Facebook.  In fact Facebook now has more than 250 million adherents worldwide and growing.  Something like 250,000 new people are signing up  a day.  It’s a juggernaut.

But can you make money from it?  Can you be a Facebook marketer and generate leads and sales?

For some marketers My Space was easy but Facebook – it’s a tough nut to crack.  Facebook aggressively protects the Facebook brand and its community, by hunting down spammers and others who choose to abuse their membership.  So the whole question of doing business on FB is a vexed one.

Of course not everyone is in love with Facebook.  Some people loathe the whole idea of social networking.  Others have embraced it wholeheartedly, then turned their back on it when they got clear about the effect of Facebook on their relationships, and their life.

Recently I read an article about a leading author, Chad Taylor, who was a big fan.  But not any more.  His beef with FB?  Its lack of honesty.  As Chad says ‘it’s not socialising – it’s broadcasting’.  “There’s a difference between staying in touch as friends, and telling all of them the same thing at once”.

Because his list of friends was comprised of different groups with different needs and sensitivities, he found he had to be cautious with what he wrote, for fear of boring or offending some of the people on his list.

That said, Facebook and other social media sites will no doubt continue to grow.  So back to the original question: Can Facebook be good for business?  The answer?  Absolutely.  I started using it in a very minor way in May of this year.  Within 5 weeks I got a flow of leads for my business.  As I step up my social media promotional activities, the flow will increase.  No doubt about it.

The reality is that Facebook is quickly becoming the proverbial bull in the china shop.

The opportunities for promotion are enormous – if you know what you are doing.  So it’s a skill thing.  Funny that.  Wanna make a killing on Facebook?  Embrace training.  Effective training will orient your thinking in the right way.  It will also give you the proven techniques you will need to employ – to make it work for you.

I use a training system that will give you the tools you need to make it big in Facebook.  Go to my site Flood Of Leads and see what I mean.

Does Twitter Suck – or What?

So is it a fad?  That’s what some people are asking about new kid on the block, Twitter.

Some people swear by it, whilst others are very skeptical.  One thing we do know is that attrition rates are high.  Lots of people have jumped onto the bandwagon but jump off just as quick.   My focus is on Facebook, but hey, at some point in the future who knows?  But marketing guru Randy Gage is now a convert.  Look at what he is saying:

“A while back I wrote about my first few months experience on the service, and felt it had great potential to be a part of your social media marketing mix.  Now after spending a few months more exploring the highways and byways of Twitterville, I’ve become convinced it’s a powerful tool that can enhance your social connections, and also offers some serious marketing traction, provided you know how to structure your use there.  And by traction I’m not just referring to brand building, but actually producing sales.  Lots of them.

Now obviously there are many people that view Twitter as purely a social connection platform, and I respect their desire to use it exclusively for that.  (Not a few of which actually do update what they
eat for every meal!)  They can keep it in that realm by selectively choosing the people they follow.

But that is not the focus of this post.  Here we will explore the marking possibilities of the service to expand your influence, develop connections, and grow your sales.
