Organo Gold Australia – Fair and Balanced Review

This is a dificult post for me to write.  Reason?  Me and coffee don’t see eye to eye.  In a nutshell I hate the stuff.  That said, I realise that millions of people in Australia drink it every day. Knowing little about coffee I decided to do my research on the general topic and the network marketing business, Organo Gold, in particular.  Due to open in Australia in February, there is already a ground swell of interest by those in the know. Fact is, Organo Gold has kicked some big goals in the US and Canada, to name two prime markets.

Why Is Organo Successful?

Founded by Bernardo Chua, in 2008 in the Philippines, the company has gone from strength to strength for a number of reasons:

Unique Product. Not just coffee but coffee fortified with the supposed health giving properties of the Ganoderma Lucidum mushroom, which is certified 100% organic..

The Founder’s Drive. No doubt the founder has a vision for the product and the company.  Bernardo is an evangelist for the alleged healing properites of the Ganoderma herb.

Competent Management. Prudent fiscal and operational management has enabled the company to expand to 13 countries, including USA, Canada, Germany, UK, Greece, Mexico, and Austria.

Napoleon Hill Foundation. Organo Gold has an exclusive sponsorship arrangement with the Napolean Hill Foundation which gives the company more credibility and marketing chutzpah.

Impressive Sales Growth

Although only launched in 2008, the company has grown strongly in the last couple of years.  From $35 million in sales in 2010 to $150 million in 2011.  Sales for 2012 were in excess of $200 million.

More Than Coffee

For plebs like me the company has more than coffee on offer, such as tea, hot chocolate, and vitamins – both infused with the so called ganoderm herb. They’ve also added personal care products – soap and  toothpaste.

According to people who use their core product, it tastes great but also makes them feel great.

The Leadership Team

Organo Gold is lead by Founder and CEO Bernie Chua.  He is supported by the Global Master Distributor and Co-Founder Shane Morand, who has a strong network marketing background.  Their vice president of of sales is Holton Buggs, who is an MLM veteran.  Interestingly, before joining Organo, Buggs was trained directly by Jay Noland the CEO of their number 1 competitor, SereniGy.

Bernie Chua has a network marketing background and has certainly helped introduce healthier coffee to North America,   The Philippines is his home country and before he expsnded into North America, built a huge business there.

Organo Pay Plan

Organo Gold offers a fairly standard compensation plan which includes 7 income centres including fast start, residual team, dual group bonus, check match, car expense bonuses, and of course, retail profit.

It’s a Binary Compensation Plan and is fairly simple to understand. The only requirement to participate is the obtain a $49.95 Business enterprise Kit which includes some product samples, 1 year back-office access and a replicated website.

For more serious business builders, the company also offers Business Builder Kits are: Bronze, priced at $150, Silver $450 and Gold $1,250.  Once launched in Australia, these price points may be adjusted.

Is Organo Gold a Scam?

As far as I can tell, Organo Gold is legit.  They have an interesting product line that apparently delivers value to consumers.  Their compensation plan works, and they appear to be well managed.  Apart from the usual ‘I didn’t make any money with Organo’ nonsense, I couldn’t find any reliable information that suggests Organo Gold is a scam.
